Economy Designer

Location: Dubai Silicon Oasis, United Arab Emirates

Employment Type: Full-time - Remote

 

As our Mobile Game Economy Designer, you will own the design and balance of in-game currencies, progression systems, monetization mechanics, and reward loops. You’ll collaborate closely with Product, Analytics, Art, Engineering, and Live Operations to ensure a cohesive, fair, and compelling economic experience that drives player engagement, retention, and revenue.

 

- Key Responsibilities

Economy Architecture: Design and iterate on core economy systems (e.g., currencies, virtual goods, progression, timers, energy systems, gacha/loot boxes).

Balancing & Tuning: Establish tuning frameworks and perform regular balancing to maintain healthy player progression curves.

Data Analysis: Use analytics to assess economic health, identify bottlenecks or exploits, and recommend adjustments.

Monetization Strategy: Develop pricing, offers, special events, and soft-paywall mechanics that optimize long-term monetization while preserving player goodwill.

Live Operations Support: Provide rapid-response economy tuning during events, promotions, and player feedback cycles.

Player Segmentation: Apply A/B testing and cohort analyses to validate economic changes and understand player sensitivities.

Documentation & Communication: Maintain clear, up-to-date design docs, spreadsheets, and presentation materials for stakeholders.

 

- Qualifications

Experience: 2+ years designing and tuning live‐service mobile game economies, with at least one shipped title.

Analytical Skills: Proficiency with spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets) and familiarity with SQL or similar querying for data pulls.

Balance & Fairness: Demonstrated ability to craft progression curves and reward loops that feel both rewarding and sustainable.

Monetization Acumen: Deep understanding of free-to-play monetization models and player psychology.

Collaboration: Strong cross-disciplinary communicator, comfortable presenting to Product, QA, and Executive teams.

Passion for Games: Avid mobile gamer who keeps up with market trends, competitor features, and emerging F2P strategies.

 

- Nice-to-Haves

Experience with live-ops tools (e.g., Unity Analytics, deltaDNA, GameAnalytics, or proprietary dashboards).

Basic knowledge of Unity
Familiarity with user acquisition metrics (LTV, ARPDAU, retention) and their interplay with economy design.
Background in psychology, behavioral economics, or related fields.


- Education

Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Interactive Media, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
